I Stand There And Watch

I stand there and watch
before my guilded mirror
sunlight reflects off the face of the glass
and shadows behind me
concealing the darkness
that lurks behind the frame
innocence in the eyes of my friend
stare back at me
helplessness paralizes me from the neck down
i stand there and watch
pain and torment
eat away at her mind and body
slowly making a moment run into forever
she presses her hands
against the shatterproof glass
scraping for an escape
i stand there and watch
her screams grow louder
as the darkness engulfs them whole
i place my palm
on the cold glass over hers
she lifts her head up
i feel her sadness and pain
her ocean eyes remain dry
yet my face is wet with tears
her hands slide off the glass
she lays on the ground
and fades into the darkness
she arose from
little by little reaching out to me
i, on the other side of the mirror,
can do nothing
but stand there and watch...
