How To Prevent Child Sexual Abuse

Here are some ways to help prevent Child Sexual Abuse. Prevention measures should start at a relatively early age since an unusual amount of child abuse cases involve preschoolers.

Be sure to provide your child enough of your time so your child will not strive for attention from outside adults.

Teach your child about the privacy of their body parts.

Listen to your child when he/she tries to tell you something, especially when it seems hard for him/her to talk about it.

Talk to your child about sexual abuse. Make sure they know that it is OK to tell you about anything, no matter what the issue or who the offender. Teach them to say "NO!"

Reassure your child that no matter what they confide in you, you will always love them just the same.

Always take what your child confides in you seriously. Children do not make up stories of abuse. Children lie to get out of trouble not into it. Believe your child and reassure him/her it's not their fault!

Know who is spending time with your child. Take time to inquire about the daily activities of your child when in the care of others.

Tell someone in authority or consult with a professional if you suspect your child or a child you know is being abused.

We hope these tips were helpful. Please remember we are not professionals of any sort. These are just helpful tips to help you in the prevention of Child Sexual Abuse. Thank you and stay safe! ~~~~~~~~~ ;o)
